Bristol Academy Club History
2004/05
- Flyers enter National League Division 3 and Under 18/ Under 16 boys National League
- First year of Filton College Basketball Academy. Ranked 2nd in the nation in its 3 year history
2005/06
- The Club move to its purpose built home at Filton College’s new £17 million WISE campus
- The Club begins an Under 14 development team
- Bristol Academy grows to offer basketball to two National League Senior teams
- Flyers win National league Division 3 and achieve promotion to National League Division 2
2006/07
- Club receives Clubmark certification by Sport England
- Flyers gain promotion to National League Division 1 to give the city the first ever semi-professional basketball team.
- Launch of Flyers Development Centre for players interested in basketball from ages 6 to 19 years old.
2007/08
- First year in National league Division 1 is a great success. Team finishes in the top four and reaches the playoff semi-finals.
- Launch of Hoops 4 Healthy Hearts basketball community project. The scheme reaches 2000 school children in the South Gloucestershire area.
- Flyers junior development programme grows bigger entering National league competitions at U13s, U14s and U15s level.
2008/09
- Hoops 4 Healthy Heart scheme incorporates more schools from South Gloucestershire, North Bristol, North Somerset and Bath.
- Launch of Women’s National League programme. Women’s team will be competing in the National League Division 2.
