Flyers Under 14’s pick up another league win.
Bristol Academy Flyers Under 14’s picked up another home win in National League Under 14 South West with a comfortable 61 point to 38 point win over local rivals Swindon Sonics. Flyers who fielded a number of debutants and numerous under 13’s started slowly and went into the first break losing 11 points to 10.
However a 25 point to 8 point burst in the second quarter opened up the games and saw Flyers take the lead and never look back.
A dominant performance from Jack Griffin saw the Flyers open up a large gap over the Sonics which despite their efforts the away team could not bridge.
With Jed Morse and Alex Bloomer running the point guards spot very well for Flyers Griffin was able to convert points offensively and take advantage of his size and experience.
The second half saw Flyers again exert their control with Ben Hawkey showing that he has a lot of potential as the debutant controlled the rebounding defensively giving Flyers a platform on which to break. Stuart James, Scott Reed and Tom Francis also contributed to the Flyers lead with excellent defence. Jack Crighton had a strong performance defensively and worked extremely hard to help Flyers take another league win.
Flyers Scorers: J Griffin 37, B Hawkey 10, A Bloomer 6, T Francis, S Reed and J Crighton 2 Points.
