Under-13’s development tournament proves to be a great day!
The Flyers second Under 13s development tournament took place on Sunday. The event was really successful giving the opportunity to almost 60 children from Bristol, Stroud and Gloucester to test their skills in competitive basketball games.
The Gloucester team finished top of the table after going undefeated with 4 wins. Flyers entered two teams in tournament coached by the Flyers US imports Davis Bowne and Doug McLaughlin-Williams. Both teams performed well and had a number of exciting games. Probably the highlight of the tournament was Marcus Kings’ golden basket in overtime that helped Flyers 1 beat Stroud 2 and secure a 2nd place finish.
Head of Basketball Andreas Kapoulas commented onthe tournament:
‘It was great to see all the children having fun playing basketball. It has been a great day and we would like to thank Stroud and Gloucester for participating and making this possible.’
Head of junior development Guy Coles added:
‘This was a great tournament and it is our intention to run 3 more tournaments by the end of the season. March, April and one more in June/July before the school summer holidays.’
